A bubble tea chain has been given the all-clear to open a branch in Watford town centre.

Bubbleology, which has 19 shops across the UK, is on course to move into an empty unit in the High Street.

The company announced in late July it would be opening soon in Watford, tweeting: “Bubbleology will be opening in Watford, High Street. Celebrate with us for the grand opening of the store and treat yourself to FREE Bubble Tea.

“We will be announcing the details soon so make sure to keep an eye on our page to be one of the first to find out.”

This week, the chain cleared a hurdle after receiving permission from Watford Borough Council to put up advertising signs.

Planning documents show Bubbleology will be situated inside the former Flight Centre, opposite Primark.

Bubble tea is also known as boba and has adopted the name because of the chewy tapioca balls which are brewed into the milky or fruity tea mixture.

Menu options include fruit teas, milk teas, its list of specials, bubble fizz and cocktails.

The novelty of all the different colours, flavours and customisation options draws in a wide market, particularly from younger generations, according to business fortune insights on the bubble tea market.
