A new pizzeria described as a “bridge” between New York and Neapolitan is coming to Bushey.

Vincenzo’s, a small pizza business, is aiming to open the new venue in High Street, Bushey, by mid-September.

The restaurant will take over the former Picnics sandwich shop, which fed people in the town for 30 years.

It had been trading from the Load of Hay pub in Watford Heath since 2020 after initially giving away pizzas to friends and key workers in lockdown, and has since looked to expand the business.

In July last year, plans to open at a site in Capel Road, Oxhey, were withdrawn, despite residents sharing their excitement for the opening and saying it would “help keep the community thriving”.

At the time, owner Tom Vincent said the withdrawal was due to an “extremely complicated process” and “conditions out of my hands”.

Announcing the Bushey restaurant, he wrote: “I’m looking forward to seeing you all and to be joining a high street full of great independent businesses.”
