Watford will host its first vegan and green market this weekend.

The next Sunday opening for Watford Market will include street food vendors and fresh produce, as well as plant based and eco-friendly products.

Stalls will be trading from 10am until 3pm on Sunday (August 21), when the High Street market has usually been closed.

Sunday markets follow the 'Market Lates' scheme as part of a wider plan to rejuvenate the town market.

With the success of similar Sunday markets elsewhere, Watford Borough Council hopes this will continue an exciting new chapter for Watford.

Future themes will be continental on September 18 and Great Big Green Week on September 25.

Watford mayor Peter Taylor said: “The market is an important part of the town, and I am determined to see it do well.

“Sunday Markets are the start of another new exciting chapter for the market. I hope they provide a boost to both existing and new traders, as well as the surrounding shops and venues.”
