If you were going out with family or friends for some drinks, a meal or a longer night out on a Friday in Watford less than ten years ago, you may well have visited one – or more – of these places.
These pictures of pubs, bars and clubs were taken by a Watford Observer photographer in November 2014 and they underline the challenges this sector of the economy has faced – and continues to confront – since then because many have either ceased trading or changed names.
While pubs including the Moon Under Water and The Horns are continuing to pull pints, previously popular haunts such as Yates’s, The Colombia Press and Reflex have closed.
