The high level of recycling in Three Rivers has been recognised with a national award.
The council’s environmental protection team is one of only four authorities to win the Zero Waste Silver Award.
The council recycles 64 per cent of all waste collected in the district annually - putting it in the top five per cent of the country.
Councillor Les Mead, vice chairman of the council, said: "We congratulate and thank the staff who do this work but it cannot be achieved without the help and co-operation of TRD residents."
