A Watford school has spent the week celebrating the Chinese New Year.

Pupils at Chater Junior School, in Addiscombe Road, have learned how to make a traditional stir-fry, danced in dragon costumes and made lanterns.

Chinese New Year falls on Sunday February 10, and 2013 will be the year of the snake.

Organiser of the event, year six teacher Raj Khindey, said: "On Monday the owner of Flower Drum, a local Chinese restaurant on Market Street, came in and made a stir fry in front of the children.

"He also let the children cook with him and spoke about the food that is eaten on Chinese New Year.

"On Tuesday we had a Chinese dance group that came in and the children performed a dragon dance, and other classes have been doing arts and crafts making lanterns."

The school in Addiscombe Road has a link with a Chinese school and is planning to share the things they have made with them.
