Two dozen different real ales and ten ciders will be available for tasting during the Fullerians Rugby Club real ale and cider festival at the clubhouse in Coningesby Drive, Watford, for three days from today (March 1).

The event is being opened by the Mayor of Watford, Dorothy Thornhill, at 4pm.

During the three days of the festival connoisseurs will be able to tantalise their taste buds on all manner of curious brews, supplied by the award-winning independent Tring Brewery, and a selection of specially sourced West Country ciders.

It will also be a weekend of live music with five local bands performing in a marquee at the rugby club ground. The Ivies and Y-Knot will perform today, February of Strangers and Vine Messiah will perform on Saturday, and The Flaming Cortinas on Sunday.

Despite being a rugby club, football fans will be able to catch Watford verses Wolves live this evening.

Sunday will be a family fun day with minis and junior rugby in the morning, followed by ferret racing, welly wangling and more fun and games in the afternoon.

The festival will run from 11am on Saturday and Sunday. Food will be served throughout the weekend and admission is free.
