Actors Warwick Davis and Ricky Gervais were filming Life’s Too Short in Bushey last week.

Following on from the first series, written and directed by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, this one-hour special will be aired at Easter.

Warwick recorded scenes with Les Dennis, Keith Chegwin and Shaun Williamson - aka ‘Barry from Eastenders - in The Frying Squad in Bushey Mill Lane on Friday, February 22.

Warwick said he was having a wonderful time filming the special, and that the whole experience of shooting Life’s Too Short had been lots of fun.

The Harry Potter star added: "Without wanting to give away too much of the story, Warwick is visited by Mr Val Kilmer, no less, who wants to talk to him about Willow 2."

Joanne Johnson, owner of The Frying Squad, said: "It is quite surreal seeing your cafe on the telly because you think ‘oh that is mine’."

On Tuesday, February 19 Life’s Too Short was filmed outside the row of shops on Bushey Mill Lane.

Joanne, 40, said Keith, Les and Shaun came into The Frying Squad for a warm up then and she was able to have a little chat with them.

Joanne said the whole process started when a location team member came to take photos outside her cafe a few weeks ago.

A couple of days later they called her up to say her cafe was perfect for what they wanted.

She added: "That was about three weeks ago and that’s when I got excited."

The Frying Squad was closed Friday daytime due to BBC filming, and Joanne said the crew and actors have been so busy she has just kept out of the way.

She added: "They know what they are doing and the last thing they need is somebody getting in the way."

BBC crews also shot at the Met Police Sports Ground, Aldenham Road, the Mercure London Watford Hotel, and on Heathfield Road, Bushey - which will feature as Warwick’s ex-wife’s home.

Joanne said: "My era was Les Dennis, Keith Chegwin and Shaun Williamson, because I watched them as I was growing up, they were my Saturday night entertainment."

Life’s Too Short is a sitcom mockumentary, created Warwick, Ricky and Stephen. Warwick plays a fictionalised version of himself, and there are cameo appearances from Ricky and Stephen.
