Three Rivers Museum is opening its doors for a heritage day on Saturday, August 3.

The event will be held in Basing House in High Street, Rickmansworth, which houses the museum in several rooms.

It is aimed at showcasing the history of the district, much of which cannot currently be displayed in the museum due to limited space.

In addition to the usual museum artefacts, visitors can also view video documentaries from around Three Rivers and enjoy a PowerPoint presentation on the area’s barns by Steve Farrell, senior planning officer at Three Rivers District Council.

Organisations including the Rickmansworth Waterways Trust, the Rickmansworth Historical Society and Our Oxhey will also have displays out during the day.

Works by local artist Ross Ashmore will also be on display. Ross is currently attempting to paint all 267 London Underground stations.

VIP visitors will tour the exhibits in the morning before the heritage day opens to the general public from 2pm Museum organisers say they hope in future to be able to occupy the whole of Basing House but cannot currently afford the rent.
