A children’s entertainer from Croxley Green is celebrating after clinching a place in the regional final to find the UK’s top children’s party entertainer.

Julie Carpenter, whose stage name is Auntie Julie, of Kenilworth Drive beat off rivals from hundreds of other local businesses for a place in the competition run by the parenting website Netmums.com.

Julie, who is married to Steve and has three children, Peter aged 18, and Anna and Michael who are both 15, set up the company in 1999 and she entertains at children’s parties all over the county.

But she must now battle it out to be crowned the overall Eastern area winner.

Voting has just opened in the poll on Netmums.com, with more than a million parents and child carers who are members of the site eligible to take part.

Julie said: "I am a small local business so to be in with a chance to win a top national award is fantastic.

"I work hard to provide the best memories for children at their parties, so I’d like to ask all the local mums and dads to get behind me, vote for me and make Auntie Julie the Eastern area winner."

The national Netmums awards have been dubbed the "Parenting Oscars" and they were set up to recognise the best firms in the growing children's party market, which is now worth £750 million a year in the UK.

Voting closes on August 23 when the overall winner will be crowned the region’s best children’s party business.

To vote simply click on the 'Vote' button on the Netmums Party Awards section. Each person voting is also entered into a draw to win £250 worth of Smyths Toy Store vouchers.
