A chamber of commerce is being set up in Hertsmere to help support local businesses and boost the economy.

The council has joined up with Watford Chamber of Commerce to create Hertsmere Connect as part of a plan to enhance economic regeneration.

Deputy leader of the council, John Graham, said: "The creation of a local chamber of commerce forms part of the council’s on-going commitment to economic wellbeing by creating a business-friendly environment.

"This is a great step forward for local businesses and the economy.

"Businesses will be able to benefit from a strong and proactive chamber which will enable them to network across the whole of south west Hertfordshire and ultimately help their business prosper. The chamber will definitely make Hertsmere a better place in which to do business."

Chief executive of Watford Chamber of Commerce, Roger Gagan, added: "It's not just the company that joins the chamber of commerce, every employee becomes a member too with opportunities to get involved and benefit personally and professionally from our extensive activities."

Hertsmere Connect will be exhibiting at the Best Business Expo event in Elstree on October 10 ahead of its official launch on October 22 at Elstree Studios.
