Students studying psychology in Bushey were treated to a team-building challah-making session this week.

Immanuel College’s psychology department held the session for Year 13 students, bringing together aspects of the Jewish and secular curriculum.

The students, who are currently working towards their A-level exams, benefitted from an presentation given by Rebbitzen Joanne Dove, with the benefits of social support during stressful times being well documented by psychologists.

Head of psychology, Mrs Helen Stephenson-Yankuba, said: "At Immanuel College, we are extremely enthusiastic about psychology both in terms of our academic teaching of the subject and its application to real world settings.

"We look at ‘stress’ as part of the AS syllabus so it was useful for students to experience this extremely enjoyable team-building exercise to help off-set this stressful time in their school careers."

After the traditional ‘taking’ of challah and reciting of the blessing, students made a special prayer for those in need, both within the school community and beyond.
