Francis Combe Academy has celebrated five years of summer activities with a master classes for more than 130 year six pupils going to the school in September.

Principal Ms Warwick invited all prospective year six pupils to the two-week experience.

The programme integrated academic activities such as literacy, numeracy, humanities, sport, science, health and beauty, with classes in art, drama, challenges, cooking and dance.

Pupils were encouraged to take part in all activities at least once and then a choose what to showcase on the final day, which consisted of an exhibition followed by a presentation of certificates and awards.

The in-house activities planned by the academy staff were supported by more than 20 year 10, 11 and post-16 volunteers who had been trained throughout the year.
