Staff at Dogs Trust Harefield are caring for two four week old puppies brought into the Rehoming Centre after being dumped in a malnourished state in freezing conditions at a local building site.

One of the pups had a badly damaged mouth after becoming so hungry he chewed through rubble and barbed wire. Fortunately they were found the next day by builders who handed them to Dogs Trust to nurse them back to health.

Staff have named the German shepherd puppies Bob and Wendy after the characters in the cartoon Bob the Builder. The pair are now fully recovered after their ordeal and are in need of a new home.

Dogs Trust Harefield Rehoming Centre Manager, Richard Moore, said: “Our centre looks after thousands of abandoned and unwanted dogs every year, but it still shocks us to think that someone could just abandon these helpless puppies without a care if they lived or died.

“Fortunately they are tenacious little characters who, despite all they have been through, are outgoing, sweet natured pups who still adore people.

“Bob and Wendy are very popular with all the staff at the Rehoming Centre and after their tough start in life we really hope they find the loving homes they deserve.”

He added: “ Bob and Wendy are only eight weeks old and are full of energy so will need active, patient owners to keep them entertained, help continue their training and ideally be at home most of the day to help them settle in.

“They are super little pups who will make wonderful pets in the right homes for a lucky owner.”
