A Watford care home has been recognised with a national award for its care of people living with dementia.

Prince Michael of Kent Court in Watford was awarded the Butterfly Service kitemark, a nationally recognised kitemark awarded by Dementia Care Matters to identify care homes which are committed to achieving excellent dementia care and providing residents with a high quality of life.

Last year Prince Michael of Kent Court officially opened a Dementia Café within the Dementia Support Unit of the care home.

The space was designed to provide a safe and secure setting for residents with dementia to enjoy with family and friends.

Tracy Lydon, activities coordinator at the care home, said: "I’ve worked at the care home for 18 years and I take great pride in helping our residents to live their life in a dignified and meaningful way."

Prince Michael of Kent Court is also hosting a recruitment open day between 10am to 5pm on Saturday, April 18, to show people the home and discuss the career opportunities and training currently available.

Light refreshments will be provided and the home will be accepting CVs and application forms on the day.
