The Watford North Scout District is holding its annual St George’s Day Parade on Sunday, April 26.

More than 500 young people and adults will be walking from the Harebreaks to Christ Church on St Albans Road and back again after a short multi-faith service.

The service and parade will be led by the 5th North Watford, based in Langleybury.

The service will include all members of the Scout Association reaffirming their promise, which includes versions for all major religions and those who do not have a personal faith.

Scouts celebrate St George’s Day as he was chosen as the patron saint of scouting by the movement’s founder, Robert Baden-Powell.

Watford North District Commissioner Dave Collette said: "Baden-Powell chose St George because his story shows how a Scout should behave in the face of difficulty.

"They should face all challenges, no matter how great or how terrifying it may appear, confidently and use every power that they can to try and overcome it – and the probability is that they will succeed."
