Have you been enjoying the heat?  We Brits never seem to be satisfied do we?  It’s too hot, too cold, the heat gives us a headache & the cold plays havoc with our bladder?  Talking of which, were you getting bladdered & slaying dragons yesterday in honour of St Georges Day?....Did you even remember or care?

As I put our England flag on the front of the house, I glanced around the street and couldn’t help but feel disappointed at the lethargy ……nothing,  zilch, nada  nada,  In terms of celebrations I’d give us a big fat Nil point. When it comes to being patriotic I’m like a Robin  puffing  out  my little red chest……I’ll use more sun cream next time.

                                 Watford Observer:

Most of the shop owners around our way are non-English & couldn’t give a flying fig about our customs and traditions and don’t stock any celebratory merchandise.  But a lot of the English business owners couldn’t even be bothered to raise some bunting or wave a flag either.  We’re also majorly PC now which doesn’t help matters as everyone’s walking around on tip-toes worrying about getting dragged out and horse whipped for causing offence to another.

                         Watford Observer:

My personal view is that It was only when migrants started celebrating their own traditions in our country in Uber Super fashion and put the English to shame that we took Umbrage got all territorial and started taking some pride in our own, but it’s all died out again.  Communities from other cultures are so much better at coming together to celebrate, I can’t help but watch with heavy heart and envy at how much trouble they often go to.

What we need is a government that takes pride in our countries traditions and really encourages & supports them…..it ever happening however, is a another matter. Hit me up with your own views…..do you think we should be celebrating our special days better, or  do you think its no big deal?

If there’s one thing the Brits are up for, it’s a challenge and this  weeks Challenge is certainly hot! Hot! Hot!  It all started when four women from around the world met on Social media & decided to put their heads together & come up with a fun & internationally friendly event they are hoping will catch on, to raise awareness of Myalgic encephalomyelitis  (ME)  & funds for biomedical research. Nicola Lavin a medical science technician  from Southern Ireland, Lindsey Michelle former attorney of law from the USA  Brenda Hankins a former  occupational therapist From the USA   &  Catherine Schofield  working in Childcare,  formerly from  Northern Ireland  now living in the  UK  are all themselves suffering from this debilitating condition.

                 Watford Observer:

In fact, as this goes to print, Lindsey has sadly become bedbound and is unable to participate further, unable even to answer the phone she will miss the official launch. After all her organisational efforts it seems such a shame, but those with ME know only too well the daily disappointments faced when living with this illness, But this has only spurred the remaining three women on further in their quest to make the chilli challenge a success and raise that much needed awareness.

               Watford Observer:

So are you brave enough? Tough enough, cocky enough? Think you can handle it?  The Challenge is to take a shot of tabasco sauce or eat a chilli pepper or for the stonking mad, both. The hotter the better the more screams the better, the more crying the better…. just make sure to film your reaction.  You can get together with your friends and family, your co-workers, or just do it by yourself…The question is are you up for the challenge?  Then head over to the girls website & find out how you can take part.  https://chillimechallenge.wordpress.com/    or on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ChilliMEChallenge/timeline
