Two pupils at a Rickmansworth school claimed a prestigious science award after beating more than 500 entries to the prize.
Safia Williamson, from Croxley Green and Abie Alexan der-Ikwue, of Harrow, are both year 9 students at The Royal Masonic School for Girls, Chorleywood Road.
The pair won the prestigious Bill Bryson Prize for Science Communication 2015 and they will collect their £500 prize on Tuesday, July 7, at Burlington House, London.
Science communication is defined as “simply presenting and explaining science related topics to non-experts”.
The two Royal Masonic School girls produced a video highlighting statistical chains involved in every person’s birth, survival and death.
The judging panel consisted of Bill Bryson, Robert Parker, CEO of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Gill Reid, Professor of Chemistry at the University of Southampton, Paul MacLellan, Deputy editor of Education in Chemistry and Ben Valsler, Digital Editor of Chemistry World.
