Two members of staff at BrightHouse, the rent-to-own retailer based in Hercules Way, Leavesden, have raised a total of £3,088, by completing the 338 mile Geneva to Nice cycle challenge.

Their involvement in the challenge brings the total raised by BrightHouse for the NSPCC to more than half a million since the partnership began in 2010.

Jack Tominey, Customer Insight Manager, and Paul Stevens, Social Media Executive, completed the five-day event on June 24 of June, having previously completed the London to Paris cycle last year, where they raised £2,500. Jack said: "It was fantastic to take part in an event for such a great cause, raising funds for the NSPCC’s vital work to protect children across the UK and prevent abuse. Paul and I really pushed ourselves in training and enjoyed the whole thing."

NSPCC’s Meredith Greey said: "I’d like to say a massive thank you from the NSPCC to both Jack and Paul for once again raising funds for our work with children and families! The on-going support from staff at BrightHouse is amazing and helps enable us to protect children across the UK."

Fundraising activities included a Christmas raffle, a bake sale, an Easter egg raffle and a BBQ to celebrate the team finishing the challenge in August. Their training involved cycling around the UK with Paul having taken part in the 76 mile Chiltern cycle.

BrightHouse match funds from colleagues’ fundraising activity pound for pound. The rent-to-own retailer has also provided gifts in kind including refrigerators and TVs to NSPCC service centres and regional offices.
