Visitors will have the opportunity to put their questions to the experts and find out a little more about dementia as the Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Community Roadshow comes to Watford General Hospital from 10am to 4pm on Tuesday.

The Roadshow aims to increase awareness and understanding of the condition which affects more than 14,000 people in Hertfordshire including 900 in Watford.

The Roadshow is returning to Watford General after a visit last year and will offer free information and advice to anyone with queries about the condition, as well as helping to promote the benefits of an early diagnosis.

It is open to people currently living with dementia, who are worried about a friend or relative’s memory or who just have questions about the condition. No appointment is needed.

The charity is also running Dementia Friends sessions throughout the day at the medical education centre. Dementia Friends is an Alzheimer’s Society initiative which sees people finding out more about dementia and committing to an action to help people with the condition.

Gayl Staines from Alzheimer's Society’s in Hertfordshire said: ‘It’s really exciting to welcome the Dementia Community Roadshow to Watford because we know that it is the perfect way to get information and support out to the people who need it. Some people make a special journey to see the Roadshow because they are worried about themselves or a relative.

"Others just happen to be passing and take the opportunity to step onboard and speak to an expert. The underlying message is simple - if you are worried about your memory, speak to us or speak to your GP."
