Hundreds of pounds worth of damage have been caused by an arson attack in north Watford.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following the blaze at around 1am on Friday, November 20, when a group of criminals set fire to a fence running alongside a house in Hemming Way.

They then caused damage to the front door and threw a child’s scooter, which was in the front garden, through a window.

The criminals, who were wearing hooded tops and had Irish accents, then ran away in the direction of Rushton Avenue.

Detective Constable Solomon Beere said: “Understandably this was an alarming incident for the residents who have been left shaken by what happened and we have put in force a number of preventative measures at the address, including additional patrols in the nearby area.

“This is an unusual incident and we believe it to be isolated. We are eager to hear from anyone who may have witnessed what happened, saw anything prior to and/or after the incident or has any other information that could assist our investigation.”
