An FA standard football club in Abbots Langley are asking businesses to invest in them.

Evergreen Football Club in SouthWay coach teams from under five's through to adults and also have a disability section.

The club leases the clubhouse and changing room blocks from Abbots Langley Parish Council - however, chairman of the club, Mark Ward, has said that the buildings are tired and in need of significant works in order to preserve them for future generations.

The club, which is one of eight to be awarded an FA status in Hertfordshire, has been working with property advisors, Herts FA and Football Foundation to draw up plans to refurbish the clubhouse.

A grant from the Football Foundation of £166,000 as well as contributions from Three Rivers District Council and Budwiser are helping to fund this project.

However, the club are of £50,000 and are seeking local businesses to invest in them.

Mr Ward said: "To comprehensively refurbish the buildings would be at a total cost of £227k plus VAT and it would substantially improve the facility, making it more accessible and creating a real community hub.

"I would like to reach out to local businesses who would be interested in getting involved and help the club bridge the £50,000 gap.
