You know?.....Slebs?   those with the  morals of a dog on heat & the talent of a chicken nugget that are held up by the media as examples of  todays entertainment , or trash TV as I call it ?.......

TV no longer has any boundaries whatsoever so it seems & even trumping in a tin can would  be  enough to get you on Britains got talent. But the real dregs of TV surely have to go to reality shows?  Just a quick drop into fame  where anything  goes, including  young   men and women getting Jiggy on National television all in the name of entertainment ….I don’t recall anyone behaving like that on CrackerJack, Multi-Coloured Swapshop or Grange Hill? ….Don’t you just get the urge to shout “CRAAACKERRRRJAAAACK” ?

                       Watford Observer:

All these young  Slebs  are what  todays generation have to look up too, aspire too? This week On Big Brother one of the young female Slebs had a meltdown  with a  tantrum any six year old would be proud of and a mouth like a wrestlers jockstap…….So lets talk about some real celebs

Frank Sinatra, the only child of Sicilian immigrants, he was a real singer and actor that truly worked hard for what he achieved. Starting out by singing  in Swing bands as a teenager, Sinatra credits  Bing Crosby  as his inspiration after watching him perform in the 30’s & Crosby is of course another true Celeb.

Watford Observer:

There’s  the beautiful Audrey Hepburn  that had a most extraordinary life,  another only child she endured many difficult times especially during the war. Well worth watching a documentary of her life if you haven’t already, she worked extremely hard from childhood to her iconic status.

Watford Observer:

It’s not about being a saint, look at London born Helen Mirren, there’s a woman with attitude whose certainly lived, but wow what a woman, acting from the age of 13 she’s certainly  grafted, deserving every accolade bestowed on her.

Watford Observer:

& Whoopi Goldberg born  Caryn Elaine Johnson is one of my favourite celebrities , not only because she passed wind so much that her friends used to say she sounded like a whoopee cushion, hence where the name came from, but because  she  learnt her craft as an actress, developed  her skills as a comedienne all while  getting small parts on Broadway, she also overcame homelessness and drug addiction and a whole heap of other life challenges that make her the gusty lady she is today.

Watford Observer:

Closer to home I always think Phillip Schofield & Holly Willoughby are another  great example of celebrities. Who are are your faves from yesteryear and today?

Watford Observer:

As inspirational goes it doesn’t get much better than  Nick Vujicic, a businessman a motivational speaker and a  man born without arms or legs. If you’ve never seen or heard any of his stuff then I suggest you watch this:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSayMXTaQY8

Watford Observer:

Don’t you think we should be having more programmes  with positive role models on television?

If we are what we eat, then surely we are what we watch too? Which doesn’t bode well for future generations as it stands?

Gizmo/Gadget/Gift of the week and I had to laugh when I saw these adult Ladybird books such as Mid Life Crisis.

Watford Observer:

How It Works-Wives  “Wives like to be right, Sarah had been waiting for her husband Tom to arrive, he is half an hour late. Sarah is delighted, she knew this would happen.”

Watford Observer:

In M.E news Lets Do It For ME team member Paul Kayes  drew our attention to a site called TopCashback  a great way to raise funds while shopping online, and it is literally the site that offers the most cash back when you shop, best of all, EBay have just signed up giving customers even more opportunity .

Watford Observer:

Of course you can keep the cash back earned for yourself, or like Paul you can use it to raise money for charity.  “I’ve raised £298.60 so far and donated it all to Invest In ME for biomedical research with added Gift aid, it’s so easy to use, I’d highly recommend people give it a go” said Paul . If you Click Pauls referral link he’ll even get cash back for everyone who signs up, which means it’ll add to his charity pot for Invest In ME. I was so impressed when I had a look that I signed up on the spot, so if you fancy doing the same just go to:  http://www.topcashback.co.uk/ref/Paulk22

I was also contacted by a chap called Scott who asked if I would ask readers to sign this petition set up by  Simone de Monerri  calling on the Government  to Invest more money  into scientific research to find the cause of ME/CFS    because at present  she states the current annual budget for biomedical research works out at roughly  just  £1 per patient per year, but you can read more and help by signing  the petition  by going to https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/118175

& finally on the local scene, am I the only one ashamed of how our town is looking & the direction in which it’s going?  I never understand the need to follow the sheep. You can modernise a town with the facilities it needs without resorting to soulless modern architecture that just resembles other towns with monstrous greenhouses , as if changing its name wasn’t bad enough? ( From Harlequin to Intu)

While councils & individuals get their palms greased its towns folk get shafted…..sorry, sweetened, in this case by the promise of a nine screen IMAX cinema.                       Watford Observer:

With past Market holders already trampled over  and left grieving over their dead businesses while  the remainder take their last gasp in a corner of town somewhere, Watford town centre has lost its identity, its soul, its community, but hey, who cares about people when there’s money to be made huh?  We’ll just say that everyone we consulted wanted it and blame the people of Watford when it fails……déjà vu anyone?

The new Charter place is set to  open in 2017 and I predict that once the novelty wears off  it will have the same problem that the Harlequin already had, businesses unable to afford the rents and overheads and going bust, and we’ll just end up with an even bigger and uglier greenhouse with lots of empty units. Tear this out and blue tac it to your wall somewhere, because if I’m wrong I’ll dress as a Panda and dance up the high street…well, no stupider than what’s happening to it at the moment.
