A hospice that serves families in south west Hertfordshire will display 1,500 handcrafted artificial flowers in a remembrance garden.
The 20-inch foam forget-me-nots will go on display at The Hospice of St Francis.
Vanessa Howden-Smith, the hospice’s in memoriam fundraising manager, said: “Remembering a loved one is a very personal thing and The Hospice of St Francis’ Forget-Me-Not Garden is a unique and special way to remember and celebrate the life of someone important to you.”
More than 200 people have bought a flower for the garden so far, which was inspired by poppies around The Tower of London.
The garden, which will look like a waterfall, will be displayed from mid-May to mid-June, after which flower owners can take them home.
Jill Grimwood bought one for her mother, who passed away at the hospice last year.
She said: “I read about them in the Hospice’s Spring Newsletter and thought what a lovely idea. Mum loved her garden, which would always be full of flowers, including forget-me-nots.”
Forget-me-nots cost a minimum donation of £25.
