Travellers pitched up in a Watford park have been evicted.

The group of around 20 caravans arrived at Oxhey Park last night.

Watford Borough Council, who own the park, has just served an eviction notice ordering the group to leave by 11am tomorrow.

Elected Mayor, Dorothy Thornhill, said: “Although traveller encroachment is rare in Watford, we will not tolerate any illegal entry into our parks.

"If they fail to leave we will take any further legal action necessary.”

It is believed the group is in town for a funeral.
