Homes in Shenley and Radlett are the most likely to be burgled of any in the area.

A recent survey by moneysupermarket.com has revealed the areas with the highest number of insurance claims for burglaries.

Households in the areas of Shenley and Radlett have a 2.514 per cent chance of being burgled.

Pinner, Hatch End and Carpenders Park postcodes had a 2.439 per cent chance with AL3 postcodes – St Albans, Flamstead, Redbourne and Sandridge – have a 2.234 per cent chance their homes will be burgled Homes in the WD23 Bushey and Bushey Heath postcode showed a 2.156 per cent rate compared with a 2.019 per cent rate in the WD19 Oxhey, South Oxhey and Carpenders Park.

Figures showed homes in Watford, Cassiobury and Nascot Wood had a 1.818 per cent chance of burglary.

Hannah Georgio of Hertfordshire Constabulary said: “When home burglaries do happen, they are taken very seriously and we work hard to identify and bring those responsible to justice.

“Whilst we work in a number of ways to prevent burglary, there is a wealth of advice on the constabulary website which people can take to protect their property.

“Simple steps such as double locking your windows and doors, and leaving a light on to give the impression someone is at home can deter a burglar.”

In Harpenden, homes had a 1.758 per cent chance of being burgled.

Batchworth Heath, Chandlers Cross, Chorleywood, Croxley Green, Maple Cross, Mill End, Rickmansworth and Sarratt – all covered by the WD3 postcode – only had a 1.636 per cent chance of burglary.

The website reported that homes in AL1 St Albans postcodes had a 1.577 per cent chance of burglary, with the WD6 Borehamwood, Elstree and Well End postcodes having a 1.564 per cent risk.

The risk was lowest in the AL2 St Albans, Bricket Wood, Colney Street, London Colney, Park Street and Chiswell Green postcodes, where there was a 1.319 per cent risk.

And homes in Garston, Aldenham, Leavesden and Letchmore Heath are the least likely to be broken into, with a 1.204 per cent probability.

West Watford homes were given a 1.169 per cent chance of having their home burgled followed by Bedmond and Abbots Langley which had a 0.958 per cent risk.

Bovingdon was next on the list with just a 0.879 risk followed by North Watford with 0.703 per cent risk of burglary.

The bottom of the list was Kings Langley, Hunton Bridge and Chipperfield postcodes had the lowest per cent of being burgled with just 0.26.
