This weekend an exhibition will launch at the LP Café, showcasing an array of original sci-fi art works.

The artist, 24-year-old Thomas Elliott, went to school at Bushey Meads before graduating from the City and Guilds of London Art School less than two years ago.

“I’m following my dream to make a living as a practicing artist” he tells me. “Originally working in oils on large scale abstracts that attracted interest from London galleries, last year I finely gave vent to my inner sci-fi obsession.

"The result is digital art inspired by cult artists such as Frank Frazetta and Chris Foss. Now I eat, sleep, and dream about sci-fi landscapes, an enthusiasm clearly visible in my artwork.”

As if space were not big enough, it is more than this alone that inspires Thomas’ varied works.

“There is a variety of work from storyboards for the Green Party political broadcasts, to concept art for various video games, films, book illustrations, and private commissions in oil.

“Also, with roots in the local music scene I’ve created album covers and artwork for bands that play at local venues like the Horns, the Flag, and the Comedy Loft.”
