The resignation of a Watford borough councillor will trigger a by-election in her Leggatts ward.
Labour councillor Anne Joynes resigned from her post on Thursday. No reason for her departure has yet been given.
To trigger a by-election, two signed requests from eligible borough electors requesting the vacancy to be filled via an election need to be delivered to Watford Borough Council returning officer Manny Lewis.
It is hoped that required requests will be received quickly to enable a borough council by-election to coincide with the Hertfordshire County Council elections on Thursday May 4.
Councillors Asif Khan and Bilqees Mauthoor, both Labour, are the remaining Leggatts representatives.
