A leisure centre is set to be revamped with a new swimming pool and an enlarged fitness suite.

Three Rivers District Council and Sports and Leisure Management have signed the Design Build Operate Maintain and Leisure Management Contract for work to begin on July 1.

The Contract covers William Penn Leisure Centre, Rickmansworth Golf Course, The Centre and Sir James Altham Pool.

As part of the Contract, there will be improvements to The Centre, in South Oxhey, including a new 25 metre swimming pool, learner pool and an enlarged fitness suite.

The Sir James Altham Pool will remain open until the improvements have taken place at The Centre.

Leader of Three Rivers District Council, cllr Sara Bedford said: “This new contract will not only see much-wanted new swimming pools in South Oxhey, but also improvements at Rickmansworth Golf Course and to the ‘dry side’ facilities at the The Centre and William Penn Leisure Centre.

“It has taken a lot of hard work by Council officers to get to this point.  SLM have a good reputation, not least in Watford, so I look forward to seeing what they can do in Three Rivers.”
