As many of you will know, I was hugely disappointed by the London Mayor Sadiq Khan’s decision not to deliver the Met Line extension, especially as I had managed to secure an extra £73 million from the Government! But I am not giving up. We need public transport along that corridor and so I will be working with Government Ministers, Hertfordshire County Council and local stakeholders on a strategy. I’ve been involved in this from start to finish and so I intend to see it through!

Redeveloping Watford Junction Station is also a top priority. With footfall having more than doubled in the last 10 years, its redevelopment is even more urgent. I want to see better drop off and pick up, better car and bicycle parking provision, a new forecourt, more food and retail outlets and another access point to the station.

I'm pleased that we now have a spending commitment for vital improvements, and so I’m now working with Network Rail and Ministers at the Department for Transport and hope that we can break ground on the redevelopment of Watford Junction soon.

I am also campaigning for a better train service for Watford residents. We have seen some progress and in the last year, a new franchise was finally agreed, promising more investment in our trains and a more frequent service to and from London.

We’ve also benefitted from an increased frequency on the Overground services (4 Trains an hour!) and a new later running service on the Abbey Line.

There is more work to do, but I am absolutely committed to improving our train services and facilities, to keep Watford moving and support the local economy.
