Unreliable trains could become a thing of the past after a company announced what action it was taking to improve services.

Oliver Dowden, MP for Hertsmere, met with the new managing director at London Northwestern, Jan Chaudhry-van der Velde, following complaints from commuters about services at Bushey station.

London Northwestern took over the responsibility of services in November last year

The train company said they were in the process of training new drivers and bringing more refurbished carriages into service.

Mr Dowden said: "I know that there has been a poor and unreliable train service in recent months at Bushey, leading to delays and frustration for my constituents. It was important to press this directly with the director of London Northwestern.

"I was interested to hear that London Northwestern have already taken action to improve services, including training new drivers and bringing more refurbished trains back into service. I also raised the issue of bathroom facilities and the installation of more bicycle racks and shelters at the station which I know passengers have been calling for.

"I will be monitoring progress closely and will continue to hold rail executives to account on behalf of my constituents."
