A road riddled with "dozens of potholes" is set to be resurfaced at the end of this month.
Lib Dem county councillor Stephen Giles-Medhurst says he has pressed Hertfordshire County Council for more than two years to fix Deacons Hill in Watford.
Work is expected to begin on the road on May 30th.
Cllr Medhurst said: "I have been pressing for resurfacing here for at least two years. There are dozens of potholes, cracks and rough uneven surfaces especially on the downhill section to Wiggenhall Road "It is particularly dangerous for cyclists. I am glad that at last works are now to take place."
Imran Hamid, who lives in Blackwell Drive, which runs parallel to Deacons Hill believes the works are "long overdue".
He said: "Repairs here are long overdue; indeed many drivers avoid Deacons Hill and use Blackwell Drive because of the potholes, so the resurfacing that I and other residents have asked for is welcomed."
The carriageway resurfacing works are due to commence on May 30th and will last 6 night, excluding weekends. A full road closure from 8pm till 5am will be in place with a fully signed diversion route.
The resurfacing will cover Deacons Hill and parts of Eastbury Road and Oxhey Road.
The works will be carried out between the junction with Blackwell Drive on Deacons Hill and the junction with Cedar Road on Oxhey Road.
