Ten primary schools took part in a first of its kind seven-a-side football tournament.

On June 21, the Riversmeet Consortium Seven-a-Side Football Tournament was held at Eastbury Farm Primary School in Northwood.

Ten teams played in the competition. They were split into two league groups providing four games for each league and the winners went on to qualify for the semi-finals.

Teams taking part came from Eastbury Farm Primary School, Chorleywood Primary School, St John’s Catholic Primary School, Arnett Hills Primary School, St Peter’s VA Primary School, Rickmansworth Park JMI School, St Mary’s Church of England Primary School, The Russell School, Little Green Junior School and Maple Cross JMI School. 

St John’s defeated Little Green and Ricky Park beat Chorleywood in a penalty shootout.

St John’s were the overall winners of the day hoisting the trophy donated by Townsend Estate Agents presented by representative of the Middlesex Football Association.

Each team also received a match ball and the headteacher of Eastbury, Rebecca Workman, congratulated everyone involved. 

The next tournament is June 20, 2019.
