For the third time in two months a lorry has got stuck in a tunnel marked “low bridge”.
Yet another lorry became wedged in a tunnel today at Hunton Bridge.
Network Rail were told of the incident at 2.35pm this afternoon. This is the third time a vehicle has become jammed in the tunnel in two months - the first time was on June 21 and the second on July 9.
London Northwestern Railway posted news of a vehicle striking a bridge at around 3pm today, saying: “Due to a road vehicle colliding with a bridge between Milton Keynes Central and Watford Junction, trains have to run at reduced speed on all lines.
“As a result, train services running through these stations may be delayed or cancelled. Our apologies for any inconvenience caused.”
A spokesperson for Network Rail, who are responsible for bridges, said: “Trains travelled slowly while a bridge engineer visited the site and carried out an inspection of the bridge. No structural damage was found and normal working resumed at around 3.05pm.
“The bridge has clear warning signage and we can't stress enough how important it is drivers know the height and width of their vehicle and pay close attention to warning signs at bridges.
"If you're not sure whether your vehicle will fit, you should look for an alternative route rather than taking a risk."
