A 93-year-old who has been taking buses for the past five decades has been honoured with a route named after him.

Dennis Tapping, who lives in Watford, has been using the Arriva 10 bus since 1968 to get to Watford FC matches.

The dedicated football fan fan has lived in the town all his life, is married and used to work at Rolls Royce.

To celebrate the milestone, Arriva Southern Counties named a bus after him.

Dennis opened the bus with his family, the Arriva team and local councillors on Friday, August 3.

Council chairman Cllr Rabi Martins, officially named the bus in celebration of Dennis before he was taken for a spin to celebrate the last 50 years of journeys with Arriva.

A big fan of Watford FC, Dennis was also presented with a Watford football shirt with a 10 printed on the back, in honour of his journeys on the 10 service.

Dennis said: “Thank you to all the great drivers over the years and the delightful morning I’ve had at Watford Junction. It really has made my day.”
