A dental practice has raised more than £2,000 for The Stroke Association by holding a coffee morning and raffles.

Moona Malik, manager of Woodford House Dental Practice, said she was “overwhelmed” by the support of patients and their families who turned up to the event and the businesses that donated raffle prizes.

Following the fundraising success, the surgery in Woodford Green plans to make it into an annual event.

This week, staff met with representatives of the charity to present them with a cheque for £2,170.

The charity works across the UK campaigning for better stroke care, invest in research and fundraise for stroke survivors.

Every year, 100,000 people in the UK experience a stroke and it remains the fourth single largest cause of death in the country.

Today, people are twice as likely to survive a stroke compared to 20 years ago.
