A group of Cubs have been getting into the community spirit by clearing the litter from their favourite park.
Children from 9th North Watford Scout Group worked to litter pick in Woodside Playing Fields in Watford collected nearly 20kg of rubbish from the park, which has a Green Flag award.
The Cubs, who are currently pushing towards completing their community badge, worked with Woodside ward councillor Stephen Cavinder and Veolia, the company responsible for waste collections.
Cllr Cavinder said: “This was a great initiative and I was delighted to see the cubs embrace it with such vigour. Without doubt, the presentation which our colleagues at Veolia provided before the litter pick helped put into context the importance of keeping our green spaces litter free.”
Darren Harding, senior contract manager at Veolia, added: “9th North Watford Cubs did an excellent job clearing up the area and we hope their actions will inspire other residents to look after their local environment and not drop litter in our beautiful parks and streets.”
If you would like to take part in an initiative like this, email Veolia where you can borrow a community litter picking kit at enquiries.watford@veolia.co.uk
