I am utterly appalled by the fact that Cllr Clyde Loakes has enough time on his hands to waste on mini Holland and other hare-brained traffic schemes while his main job on the council is supposed to be looking after bins and muck. What does he do about those? Nothing. If you take a gander down any street you like in Leytonstone, what do you see? Chicken boxes strewn every which way, empty booze cans and bottles on every wall, piles of sick in every filthy corner and wee, sick and bird muck stains adorning every paving stone. Even arms and legs of discarded mannequins thrown about. I suppose we should be glad it isn't the private parts.

I've tried heavens hard to put pressure on the council to do something about this endless flow of detritus onto our streets. I report it daily with photos on the council's web page. I even brought it to the attention of our local residents association but the council listen to them about as much as they would to Trini Lopez singing If I Had a Hammer.

Come on Clyde, buy those cleaners a few litter pickers and new mops and get scrubbing.
