Reference your article on Mr Taylor’s first 100 days in power (Watford Observer, August 24).

It appears he is happy to destroy a bowling community at Woodside simply to achieve an election promise.

No consideration for the physical and mental well-being of 300 elderly people, who currently use Watford indoor bowls club.

The Woodside improvement ‘masterplan’ proposes good things for young people.

Woodside has space for these without sacrificing the Bowls Club to a political whim.

The proposal given for the bowls club building is just a list that could have been cobbled together on the back of an envelope to justify the destruction of a viable community for today’s (and our future) old people.

Mr Taylor’s says the bowls club will not suffer because there is already another one near the park. The expression about quarts into pint pots is I think apposite.

Why should a whole community die just to satisfy a mayor, who was elected to serve the whole community?

The plan states there will be 248 new parking spaces (but just five disabled bays) and appears to include the destruction of a 200-year-old Cedar of Lebanon.

Does this mean humans and trees are not wanted at Woodside if they are old?

480 people have signed an online petition against the closure.

Think again Mr Taylor - you need to support this Bowls Club so that Woodside genuinely is for everybody, whatever their age.
