A petition which could see train stations in Watford rezoned to make fares cheaper for commuters will be presented to politicians.
More than 6,000 people have added their voice to a campaign calling for the area to be put into Zone 6.
Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor and Liberal Democrat London Assembly member Caroline Pidgeon will present their petition to the Greater London Authority tomorrow morning (Thursday.)
Currently all four stations in Watford – Watford Junction, Bushey, Watford Metropolitan and Watford High Street – are split into three separate zones.
Watford's Metropolitan Line Station is in Zone 7, Watford High Street and Bushey stations are in Zone 8 and Watford Junction Station is in Zone W.
But Epping, which is further out from London than Watford is, and sits on the Central Line even though it is technically in Essex, is in Zone 6.
This means that on average, commuters spend £1,400 a year more than someone living in Epping to make a journey of a similar distance.
The Liberal Democrats are also hoping to ask for bigger trains with more capacity.
