I don’t envy the job of redrawing constituency boundaries across the UK but what has been proposed for Watford is not logical.
Woodside is in Watford. When we led a campaign petitioning against this recommendation local residents were, and are still, amazed it even was possible to be considered not part of Watford. It makes no sense for Woodside residents to have an MP in St Albans and a council in Watford.
This is the final recommendation in the process and now our elected MPs must make a decision and vote. These proposals would carve up the Watford borough, split a town in two, and would only add to confuse local boundaries. I’m calling on Richard Harrington, in his role as Watford’s MP, to vote against these proposals given Watford’s clear and proud local identity. If you agree please write to him too and ask him to vote against.
