A museum is celebrating the technology that produced the first version of this newspaper.
Watford Museum held a workshop for visitors and has a display to commemorate the printing press that was used to make the first ever Watford Observer newspaper, in 1863.
The printing workshop, open to the public to try their hand at using wooden blocks and ink, was held on August 23.
Children learned the very technique and skills printers of Watford used at the time. They printed their own names and titles of newspaper articles they wanted to write. They also made banners.
Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor said: “Watford has a thriving local newspaper and it’s great that the museum’s summer workshop celebrated that.”
