A girls football squad made history when it took part in the first ever competitive all-female match in the club's 100 year history.

The Chipperfield Corinthians Youth Football Club (CCYFC) played the game against Wormley Rovers at the Queen Street Football Ground on Saturday.

The CCYFC U12 girls’ team was set up last year with support from the FA “Grow the Game” and have been training and playing friendly matches before joining the Hertfordshire Girls Partnership League this September.

The team is coached by Lauren Warner and Karen Silverton.

Karen said: "It’s fantastic to see how far they have all come since their first friendly last year.”

Emily, ten, took the captaincy for the first match. She said: “We were all nervous at first but because we love playing, once we started we just got on and enjoyed ourselves, it was great fun.”

Chipperfield Corinthians Youth FC are an FA chartered development standard, community amateur sports club run by volunteers for the community of Chipperfield and the surrounding area.

The club coach and manage eight mixed youth teams including under8 - under 13’s in the West Herts Sunday League as well as a female soccer school and the under12’s girls’ team.
