An elderly man had his bank cards snatched after he was surrounded by a number of men at a cashpoint.

The victim, aged in his 70s, was withdrawing money from a machine in St Albans Road, Watford, at 12.50pm on August 19 when he was targeted.

He was approached by a number of men who stood either side of him and asked him whether he was having trouble using the machine. While he was distracted, one of the men managed to steal his card.

The group then advised him to insert another card but they grabbed his attention again and were able to steal a second card.

The debit cards were used to withdraw £500 from each account at the Tesco Express cashpoint in St Albans Road.

After the theft, a member of the public alerted the victim that they had seen two of his cards stolen.

Officers investigating the theft have released images of three men they would like to speak to as part of their enquiries.

PC Marko Mandic said: “I am very keen to identify the three men pictured as I believe they will have vital information that could assist with my investigation.”
