Colney Heath sit fourth in the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division after beating London Colney 4-2 in their derby clash on Saturday.

The victors only had a Spencer Clarke-Mardel goal to show for their efforts in a first half which saw both sides have chances, but a second-half brace from Harvey Scott saw the hosts open up a 3-0 lead.

Loren Maxwell pulled one back but Joe Newton re-established Heath’s three-goal cushion, before Elliot Beevoir netted a late second for the visitors.

Clarke-Mardel had already enjoyed a couple of opportunities when he opened the scoring on the half-hour as he latched on to a Danny Fitzgerald pass and netted with the aid of a deflection.

The advantage was doubled two minutes after the restart when Greg Shaw saw an effort blocked on the line by Jack Metcalfe, only to see his follow-up hit the bar. However, the Blueboys were still unable to clear their lines and Scott sent a looping effort over Metcalfe to make it 2-0.

Scott was to double his tally on the hour when he headed home from close range following a short corner routine between Jack Woods and Fitzgerald.

London Colney did pull one back after 73 minutes when Maxwell drove home from just inside the area, but they conceded a fourth nine minutes later as Scott set up Newton to fire a low effort beneath Metcalfe.

There was still time for a second Blueboys goal in the last minute as Beevoir headed home a Joe Reynolds corner.
