A Member of Parliament invited a pressure group to meet the Foreign Minister.
Watford MP Richard Harrington and the chair of Watford Friends of Kashmir, Shafiq Ahmed, presented Mark Field with a petition signed by almost 100 people about human rights abuses in Kashmir on Tuesday.
At the meeting the Foreign Minister promised to hand the petition to the new Indian High Commissioner, Ruchi Ghanashyam, who he was meeting that day.
Mr Harrington said: “I’d like to thank Minister Mark Field for agreeing to meet with us, and for all his hard work overseas.
“I’ve been working closely with the Watford Friends of Kashmir, and that’s why I invited representatives to Westminster to meet the Minister responsible.
“The meeting was very positive, and I will now be writing to the Indian High Commissioner personally on this.”
The Kashmir conflict is a territorial dispute between India and Pakistan which has been ongoing since the partition of India in 1947.
