A high-flying American football team left their home state to train in Hertfordshire's leafy surroundings.

The Seattle Seahawks, who won the Superbowl in 2013, enjoyed a rigorous training session at The Grove near Watford yesterday before their NFL showdown tomorrow.

The playoff hopefuls did not appear to be phased by The Grove’s luxurious surroundings and unique turf.

Head coach Pete Carroll told the Seattle Times that the team was still training intensely, despite the different conditions.

Cornerback Shaquill Griffin added: “You can see how everybody hit the ground running.

“You could see the focus was still there, but you could tell everybody was having fun and just enjoying the experience of being here in London and out of the country.

“But you could see that we’re still here for business.”

The Seahawks will face the Oakland Raiders this Sunday in the first of three NFL games at Wembley Stadium.

The Seattle Seahawks currently sit second in the NFC West division, with two wins and three losses in the season so far.

The team will have a rest day tomorrow before leaving Watford on Sunday morning for the fixture.

Several NFL teams have stayed at The Grove prior to Wembley fixtures in previous years, including the Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills.
