Full story: Police confirm men have been approaching schoolchildren

Men in cars have reportedly been “approaching children outside schools and asking them to get in.”

Several schools have written to parents warning their children to be alert after a flurry of incidents in the past week, according to letters posted on Facebook.

Rickmansworth School told parents it has received two reports of pupils being approached in two days. The first involved a man on a skateboard, the second a white man driving a black car.

On the second occasion, the pupil was asked to get into the car but when they ignored the driver, he sped off.

Greenfields School in South Oxhey has also notified parents of two incidents in the area over the past week or so. It involved a man stopping children and asking them to get in his car.

There have also been reports in Hemel Hempstead.

A mother reported that an Asian man in a black car tried to lure her daughter into his vehicle. He told her to come over to his car which was parked near Longdean Primary School. The young girl ignored him but the driver didn’t give up deliberately moving his car to stop her moving away. He continued to gesture her to come towards him before she was able to get away.

Reddings Primary School received a report last week of an Asian man in a black car asking a child to get into his vehicle by Tesco Express close to Barnacres Road in Nash Mills.

The pupil reported that he could see a mobile phone in the car and on the phone was a video with “naked people in it”.

Schools are warning pupils to be aware and if possible to not walk alone. Each letter states that police have been informed.
