In-form Los Angeles Chargers showed their skills in a training session in Barnet

The American football team had an open practice at Allianz Park on Friday, two days before they held on to an early lead to beat Tennessee Titans 20-19 at Wembley.

A warm Edgware afternoon was welcomed by the high-flying team, who were on a three game winning streak - but affected by jetlag.

Head coach Anthony Lynn said: "We started out a little slow.

"It was a long flight but it ended up being a crisp practice."

The start of the training session focused on quarterback Phillip Rivers, who has thrown 15 touchdowns in the season so far.

The Chargers star said: "I'm interested to see the atmosphere in the stadium."

He noted that in 2008 - the Chargers last trip to London - there was good energy, with fans cheering every play.

Rivers echoed his coach's concerns about jetlag, adding: "We got a couple days to be ready for Sunday.

"It will be big for us to go to a 5-2 (record)."

He was seen throwing pinpoint passes to Tyrell Williams and Sean Culkin, two key attackers.

Antonio Gates, who also played at Wembley in 2008, brushed off concerns over fatigue or unfamiliarity, saying that the added structure of the trip would help both teams be better prepared for Sunday.

The Chargers fifth win with two losses was the victory they wanted to launch themselves into playoff contention.
