Three Wetherspoon pubs are "on a roll" after being awarded an “exceptional” platinum rating for the quality of their toilets.

Flush with pride, The Moon Under Water and The Colombia Press, both on the high street, and The Pennsylvanian in Rickmansworth trumped the competition in the Loo of the Year Awards 2018.

Inspectors made unannounced visits to WCs across the land judging them on everything from décor and maintenance, to cleanliness, accessibility, hand washing and drying and overall management.

The best bogs are then rated from bronze to platinum with unacceptable toilets not graded at all.

The platinum rating is only given to outlets which offer "exceptional” toilets.

The Moon Under Water manager, Kwame Tefe, said: "We are delighted with the award. Staff at the pub ensure the toilets are in first-class condition at all times and it is great this has been recognised."

Loo of the Year Awards 2018 managing director, Mike Bone, added: "The toilets at the three pubs have been designed and fitted out to a very high standard and are both clean and well maintained.

"The pubs richly deserve their platinum awards – the highest individual award the judges can deliver."
